Government Funding
There is funding available from the government of Canada to assist Canadians to upgrade their home’s energy efficiency so we can all get to net-zero by 2050, or sooner, rather than later.
Through the Canada Greener Homes Initiative you can access funding from the Canada Greener Homes Loan (CGHL): up to $40,000, interest-free with a repayment term of 10 years.
You can also access funding from the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program: grants up-to-$10,000 (regardless of province), or up-to-$15,000 in participating provinces, plus a $250 bonus (in participating provinces only), to switch from oil heating to an eligible heat pump.
You have an option to an interest free government loan of up to $40,000, payable over 10 years. Contact them for any and all questions regarding the loan. Their contact information is as below:
Clients may apply for the loan at www.cghli.ca

You are good to go applying for the loan as soon as you get the renovation upgrade report from your Registered Energy Advisor and before you start your renovations.

When it comes to the OHPA program, each application is assessed by the Province and we can’t comment on the exact amount that a homeowner is able to receive. Homeowners first must qualify for the Program based on after-tax income.
Here is the page with the table for applicants in Ontario. Median income threshold table – Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program
Homeowners need to show proof of purchasing 500 liters of heating oil in the past 12 months (reduced from 1000 liters)
Some provinces and territories have agreements with the federal government for the delivery of the OHPA program. For eligible homeowners that live in one of the participating provinces/territories, an additional up-to-$5,000 is available (increased from up-to-$10,000 to up-to-$15,000 maximum federal grant)
Your application, the process, and funding will be handled by your province or territory.

If you are interested in any of those other areas of home improvement, let us know; we are happy to recommend friends of ours to you, that specialize in those areas. We are here to assist you where we can so we can get to net-zero as a nation sooner rather than later.
